We created this trailer for the latest generation of the Wacom Bamboo pen tablets. Highlighting multi-touch functionality and the pressure sensitive pen and eraser, we show a journey through time and creativity - and the nasty little things that might happen when working with paint, ink or stone when trying to create a picture and deliver a message.
Created in collaboration with Steve Holmes and Akira Endo this trailer features a range of different techniques and tools. Mainly we used After Effects and Photoshop for the first part and Cinema 4D for the 3D beauty renders of the product towards the end of the trailer.
Thanks to Torsten Schrank and his team for the wonderful illustration of the couple and also thanks to Jake & Dan for making their beautiful ink spill footage available!

This trailer for Wacom Inkling features a broad range of different techniques: 2D animation mixed with drawings and video footage, stop-motion-like animation of drawings and of course realistic 3D renderings of the beautiful product itself. Next to creating this trailer, we also animated a teaser clip, created 3D renderings for the packaging and also fully animated tutorial clips to get started with this magical product. Trailer was created in collaboration with Akira Endo, as he took care of the 3D part, which was done in Cinema 4D and rendered with Maxwell Render. Fine colorgrading of the video clips done by Peter Deinas from Scanwerk.
Make sure to watch the Making Of Inkling to see how we created it.

In advance of releasing Wacom Inkling to the public, Wacom created a one week-long teaser campaign to create some buzz around this "mystery product". I was asked to come up with an idea on how to animate the famous quote from Paul Klee: "A line is a dot that went for a walk". The 30 second clip features a continuously evolving line on a paper surface that starts as a dot and forms different objects that hint at the features of the product like taking it on the go, outside, flexibility, paper, etc. Akira Endo contributed with the beautiful walk-cycle animation of the person, which was done in Cinema 4D and Steve Holmes contributed with creative input.

Very few people like to read manuals and we often reply with a quick "RTFM", so why not make learning how to use a new product fun? For Inkling we created the probably most stylish, fully 3D animated manual/tutorial there is so far! In just six chapters it takes you from installing the software, to creating your first scribbles and finally review your drawings with Wacom Sketch Manager. This fun project was created in collaboration and with great help from Akira Endo, Max Iglesias and Diana Eglseder.

Maxon asked me to take their new Cinema 4D R13 logo for a spin and create an animated version that can be used for their showreel, presentation intros, etc. It was designed by my friends over at Aixsponza and I think it is just plain beautiful! Maxon being my absolute favorite 3D software company it was a pleasure and an honor to animate their new logo with Cinema 4D R13 by using some of the great new features in the latest and greatest release so far. Of course lot of After Effects magic happened in post, but every frame is handcrafted with passion and lots of attention to detail. Enjoy!
